If you encounter any bugs while using the new Oyez beta site, report them here.

When you report a bug, please include a descriptive statement about the problem you encountered, what kind of computer you are using (Window XP, MacOS X, Linux), the browser you were using (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari), and (very importantly) the URL of the page you were visiting when the problem occurred.

Thanks for helping us develop and publish the next generation of the site.

The contents of the John Roberts page does not change when clicking through biography, details, etc.

kenneth, I've fixed the problem. Thanks for the bug report!

On the Souter bio page, the & is accompanied by 'amp'in the phrase "Orr & Reno." The phrase appears twice.

It seems that the page is displaying the symbol incorrectly.

Adam said...

The audio on the Furman v. Georgia page is from a different case, not Furman v. Georgia.

Adam said...

On the Woodson v. North Carolina page, in the fact of the case page, some html code appears. ([link]...[/link])

Adam said...

html code appears on the Kansas v. Marsh page (...)

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the reports adam. I'll have them fixed soon.

Adam said...

In all cases from the 1793-1887 terms, the "Facts of the Case" and "Conclusion" sections are the same.

Also, the link to the 1841 term is broken.

Adam said...

On the Standard Oil Co. of NJ v. United States case conclusion, the final sentence reads, "In this case, the record show that the Standard Oil trust was unreasonable." It should probably say, "In this case, the record shows..."

Adam said...

In the second sentence of Bunting v. Oregon's fact of the case section, it reads, "The measure also required time-and-a-half wages for overtime up to 3 hour a day." It should say "...up to 3 hours a day."

Adam said...

On the Bray v. Alexandria Clinic (1894) page, html code appears in the conclusion section. ("...wrote that under the Court's decision in Griffin v. Breckenridge, 403 U.S. 88, there must be...")

The audio will not work for Hustler v. Falwell. The error message says the link may be outdated.

kaitie said...

On the case Marbury v. Madison the facts of the case and the conclusion are exactly the same.

In all cases from the 1793-1887 terms, the "Facts of the Case" and "Conclusion" sections are the same....this is a serious problem.

Mike said...

On the Gibson v. Florida Legis. page, the Facts, Issue, and Conclusion sections are all listed as (none). The exact specs for the site are below.

Gibson v. Florida Legis. Investigation Comm.

Docket Number: 6

Petitioner: Gibson
Respondent: Florida Legis. Investigation Comm.

The audio (both streaming and mp3 download) do not work for Grutter v. Bollinger.

Anonymous said...

On these two pages,

http://beta.oyez.org:8080/cases/case/?case=1793-1850/1833/1833_

http://beta.oyez.org:8080/cases/case/?case=1851-1900/1865/1865_

the conclusion just repeats the facts of the case, as if it was copied and pasted. i don't know if this is a bug or another kind of error...

I'm unable to click on anything to

The tour of the court is not working.

on the barron v. baltimore page, the conclusion is the same as the facts of the case. there is no conclusion given. by the way- love the site!

Derrick said...

The page http://beta.oyez.org:8080/cases/case/?case=1851-1900/1856/1856_ repeats the background information for the conclusion.

The audio file for Grutter v. Bollinger does not load.

Grove Girl said...

Gibbons v. Ogden has the same thing under facts and conclusion.

This case's conclusion just repeats the case- there is no conclusion. Kind of important for my classes!

You don't even mention the case of the Cherokee Nation vs. The State of Georgia (1831). The case was extremely important and set lasting precedents that need to be described here.

This case does not have a conclusion. The facts of the case are just repeated instead of a conclusion.

Many cases do not have a conclusion, simply repeating the facts of the case. Here is one example:

There are many others.

When searching for United States v. Robinson, it appears 3 times in the results, though only the last one has information on the case.

Corey said...

At the top of the screen, the search bars on the right side of the screen are misplaced and clash with the banner above making some of the text unreadable.

Hustler v. Falwell audio

Keep the reports coming. Thanks!

I have a Gen V iPod (a video one). Since upgrading to the new version 1.2 for the iPod, all subsequent downloads of Oyez material have resulted in the iPod immediately turning itself off when I try to listen. I was hoping you'd run into this problem and found a fix. I could simply revert the iPod operating system to an earlier one that actually worked, but that would require wiping the iPod's memory (a big hassle in time).

In the section Facts about the Case--see misspelling in "Des Moins' school" and shouldn't Christmas be capitalized?

Excellent site - superior to original Oyez by far. I have about a dozen codecs and still can't play the Blackmun Video MP4s. What codec are you using to produce these?

Mortimer Brezny said...

The cases do not list the advocates. I want to see who the advocates are when I pull up a case.

On internet explorer 7 in Windows XP, the search bar covers up the top blue link bar.

Jerry Goldman said...

We appreciate the posts and welcome more comments/bug reports. Most -- if not all -- of the bugs have been addressed.

We will be adding new features in the player widget and advocate data on the case page.

The 1968 interview with CBS that was linked on the old-OYEZ entry for Justice Hugo L. Black is no longer on the new one. Also his 1937 radio address is missing. Please put them back on and ideally in downloadable MP3 format. Or even video! Thanks

Pete.

I have entered some very prominent eminent domain court cases in the search box that appears at the top. No search results appear.

The three I entered were: Poletown Neighborhood Council, Hawaii Housing Authority v. Midkiff and Wayne County v. Hathcock.

Thanks

In you section about United States v. Harris(1882)you have failed to mention that one of the people who was part of this crime was R.G Harris who was the sheriff of Crockett County. This information is not part of the published case but it can be found in the unpublished archival recaord of the cast. I believe that having this information changes the meaning of the case. It can also be found in The Constitution and the Nations writen by Christopher Waldrep

Why aren't all MP3 recordings of the 2006 Term available sooner, particularly since the help page says they are recorded on flash media rather than tape? I still await an MP3 of KSR v. Teleflex (Nov. 28), yet the December cases already have MP3s posted. Are the MP3s available anywhere else besides Oyez??

In the Adarand Constructors v. Pena case, it says the Equal Protection Clause is in the Fifth Amendment, when it is really the Fourteenth.

I think you should look up 'SQL injection attack' and then take action.

Trevor Hugh Davis said...

While you're at it, your search engine appears to dump the entire database with some obvious wildcards.

Trevor Hugh Davis said...

Also, your RSS feed is putting a single line of whitespace before the xml header. (<\\?xml version="1.0"\\\?>)

This causes the browser to dump the page as plaintext. Which is bloody ugly. I don't remember what you have on the regular site, but you should consider using a in-browser xslt transformation to make it look nice or at least make sense to the casual user who clicks it. check out bbc news for a great example.

Trevor Hugh Davis said...

Also, your search query accepts POST queries. Not a good idea....

and why is Medusa and Apache 2.052 running at the same time? On Red Hat?

Oy....

by the way, I'm not writing this to show off. I'm writing this because I really like your site.
